Seattle Boat Show Trip

Seattle Boat Show Trip

Come join us as we visit the largest boat show on the west coast !

If you love Seattle and love to learn more about sailing this is a fantastic boat show. Captain Mark & Pam love this show for its numerous 1 hour long seminars on a wide variety of topics and vendor displays.  Candidly, not many sailboats on display at the indoor facility, although the local Beneteau dealer normally shows their new line of boats.  The highlights, in our opinion, are the seminars and vendors.

So, if you are looking for a great excuse to go to Seattle for some great seafood, informative sailing seminars then this is a great trip.  The show lasts over 10 days, from January 26th to February 3rd.  There are some great deals on local, nearby hotels within walking distance to the boat show.

Let us know if you will be joining and we can provide some great guidance and hook up for a few meals.

Docking Seminar & Clinic

Docking Seminar & Clinic

Need to brush up or improve your docking skills?

We are hosting both a Docking Seminar & On the Water Clinic, taught by USCG licensed captain and US Sailing Certified Instructor, Mark Boelens

.  The seminar (classroom setting) covers basic docking concepts, and approaches in different situations encountered both on Lake Travis and tidal waters with potential cross-currents.  Seminar is complete with hand-outs, suggestions for single-handed docking and docking as a "couple" (and saving your relationships).  Great for on the lake and use when chartering elsewhere.

We offer the opportunity for on the water practice via our "clinic" in the afternoon.  We are limiting the number of participants to ensure adequate practice and guidance by instructors.  Reservations on first-to-pay basis with members having priority over non-members.

Seminar (Classroom Setting) :  9:00 am to 11:30 am = $40 per member, $80 per non members (includes hand-outs).

Clinic (On the Water Practice) :  1:00 pm to 5:00 pm = $80 per member, $140 for non-members.  Price for the clinic is in addition to the seminar (with the seminar a prerequisite for the clinic).

Call the office (1 512 261 6193) to reserve.  Bookings must be made 1 week prior to the event to allow time for printing of materials.

"Beer Can Racing Seminar".

Beer Can races are fun, casual sailing events designed for sailors who are primarily cruisers but love friendly competition.  This session introduces the fundamentals of the event with a few targeted topics for safety and performance.  This includes a review of right of ways, rounding the mark, boats near shoreline,  We will also cover start-line tactics and some fun tools to help with performance.

"Light Wind Sails Seminar"

In this session, we explore the different options for light wind performance sails for cruisers.  If you have ever thought about adding a spinnaker, CodeZero, Gennaker, or other sail, we review the options and pros/cons of each sail.  We explore in more details our recommendation for Lake Travis sailing for easy hoisting, dousing, and sailing fun and efficiently.

"From Novice to Captain - Sail Training Explored"

In this session, we explore the different options available for learning how to sail.  We examine the differences between the different certification programs, US Sail, American Sailing Association and NauticEd..  For experienced sailors, we highlight advanced training options for coastal cruising, Captain certifications, etc.

"Social Sail On the Water"

IIn the afternoon, we host a fun social, competitive sailing event fashioned after our popular team building events.  Be sure to sign-up and RSVP for the event.

We will offer limited per-seat opportunities to sail with a Texas Sailing Captain aboard one of our Beneteau boats.  A donation is required to reserve a spot.  Boat owners can also join in the fun, simply let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
