Texas Sailing celebrates over 50 years in serving the Austin sailing community with our annual Open House.  This year's event will be bigger and better than ever before with seminars and activities for both members, experienced sailors, and those interested in sailing.

This all-day Open House offers several seminars for both novices to experienced sailor.  For planning purposes, we do require an RSVP to ensure adequate space for all interested parties.

In the afternoon, we will host a fun, social sailing event based on our popular Corporate Team Building Events.  Captain and crews are welcome to join in the fun.

Those interested in learning to sail, or simply wishing to join in the fun, can reserve a spot on a boat with one of Texas Sailing's captains.  We will provide 1 hour of pre-event training allowing you to help crew the boat.

"Beer Can Racing Seminar".

Beer Can races are fun, casual sailing events designed for sailors who are primarily cruisers but love friendly competition.  This session introduces the fundamentals of the event with a few targeted topics for safety and performance.  This includes a review of right of ways, rounding the mark, boats near shoreline,  We will also cover start-line tactics and some fun tools to help with performance.

"Light Wind Sails Seminar"

In this session, we explore the different options for light wind performance sails for cruisers.  If you have ever thought about adding a spinnaker, CodeZero, Gennaker, or other sail, we review the options and pros/cons of each sail.  We explore in more details our recommendation for Lake Travis sailing for easy hoisting, dousing, and sailing fun and efficiently.

"From Novice to Captain - Sail Training Explored"

In this session, we explore the different options available for learning how to sail.  We examine the differences between the different certification programs, US Sail, American Sailing Association and NauticEd..  For experienced sailors, we highlight advanced training options for coastal cruising, Captain certifications, etc.

"Social Sail On the Water"

IIn the afternoon, we host a fun social, competitive sailing event fashioned after our popular team building events.  Be sure to sign-up and RSVP for the event.

We will offer limited per-seat opportunities to sail with a Texas Sailing Captain aboard one of our Beneteau boats.  A donation is required to reserve a spot.  Boat owners can also join in the fun, simply let us know in advance so we can plan accordingly.
